How much time does it takes to a car to completely charge a new battery that got emptied by the lights? The car is a Caribe 86 (4 cilinders)

The alternator maintains about 14V. If the battery is still good it will only draw about 20 amps of charge at that voltage, so it will take 3-5 hours to charge most of the way. It's better to use a good automatic charger if the battery died all the way. It sends a higher voltage charge in the end that equalizes the cells.

Run the car for like an hour at first, this should charge it enough, then daily driving should keep it charged .

about an hour at idle, or 30 min while driving....the alternator does 2 things......1st it recharges, and keeps the batteries charged...2nd it powers your vehicle, while it is running.
while your vehicle is running your power is coming from the alternator, and when your vehicle is off, the power comes from your battery.

Alternators aren't designed to "charge" batteries. They're meant to maintain voltage.

My car is diffrent with yours but I'd put it for one night almost 12 hrs, and its worked fine.
