Interesting...the most glamorous advantage of intelligence is knowing when to speak and when not to.

Serious? It seems you are already at a disadvantage.

IQ- Intelligence Quotient. Having a high one doesn't mean you know anything; it indicates an ability to think well and probably to learn quickly. However, people with high IQ's frequently have serious problems applying their "gift" in daily living. Intelligence without the ability to apply it usefully is of limited value.

Knowledge- this is gathering data, and covers a lot of ground. IQ helps get it quicker, but does not guarantee you can or will use it effectively. You can know a great deal, and understand nothing. Understanding what you know, or comprehension, is what makes knowledge functional.

Persistence is good... but only if you are persisting with the right objective.

Skill is the ability to use knowledge and comprehension together effectively.

Intelligence, knowledge, comprehension and skill is the winning combination.

The challenges of life are unlimited. Intelligence in the right combination can help you avoid many problems, but it also enables you to see and solve many more. There is no shortage of things to work on. The trick is working on what matters.

In evolutionary terms, you see crocodiles with brains the size of a pea doing pretty well for millions of years, and mega brained specialised intelligent species like the tiger dying out as its resources change.

Brain has a great deal of cost in animals, using 10 times the amount of energy as other body parts. So intelligence is confined to the advantage it gives. Chimpanese can eat termites by poking mounds with a stick and waiting for them to attack the stick.
Any other animal would be attacked with the full arsonal of bites and stings, so they have to have the strength to overcome - like an anteater, but the side effect is that the strength is only in that area. For all thier persistance and strength they become overspecialised.

you are laughing at matters nobody else does. That´s the advantage. :-) When you are trying to be ´average´ let´s say because you don´t want to lose friends, etc., and keeping doing it for a longer period of time, you´ll lose the ability to be spontaneous. Therefore many chances you will let to slip by. It has nothing to do with lacking strength

Intelligence does not necessarily mean avoiding circumstance, more like having the ability to bend circumstances to your benefit.

Just think about this a moment A person whose IQ is 120 has an IQ as far above that of a person with an average IQ, as the person with the average IQ has above a person who is considered to be retarded.

If by 'avoid circumstances through intelligence' you mean being able to learn from others mistakes. If you actually can do this, you are a big step along the road of my definition of a God.
I guess it sucks that there is all this social pressure to feel girly if you do not go and get your knocks in life like the rest of us.

An intelligent person is never afraid or ashamed to find errors in his understanding of things.
The advantage of being intelligent is to be able to identify such people and associate with them.

The trick is to be intelligent enough to be able to figure out at which point persistence becomes futile.
Try, Try and Try again, then give up and go to the pub.

The guy who invented the Atomic Bomb was “intelligent” so tell me how smart is that? Being intelligent without wisdom is dangerous. Wisdom is more important!
