well, im going to buy a pc maily for playing Counter strike source, can you tell me which pc would be best?
1st pc:
AMD Athlon™ 64 3800+
Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz- 2DIMMs
80GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™
NVIDIA GeForce 7600GS 256mb video card
305 watt PSU
2nd PC
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6400 (2MB L2 Cache,2.13GHz,1066 FSB)
Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz- 2DIMMs
geforce 7600 gs 256mb video card
305 watt PSU
there both about the same price, the 1st is a little less, i think ill go with the 1st one because counter strike source dosent use dual core so even if i have a duel core it wont be used as good as it could be, and the 1st one has 2gb ram.
NOTE: i dont care about how it looks, and ill be running it in 800x600, low graphics
how much frames per second do u think i will get?

yea, its about $700, and i will proll yeven bump it up to 2.5gb ram, and even use a few tricks for counter strike source, like a thing called a cfg file to make it run even better, all i want is, a avrge frame rate of about 60-75, 800x600, low graphics, in a low ping game with only liek 10-14 people in it

Go with the AMD, because its for gaming.

The Intels will perform better on paper because of the dual core suits multi-threaded benchmark applications, however just about all games are single threaded applications and will only use half the dual core.

If you want a machine for pure gaming you are better off with a fast single core chip than a the Intel Dual core.

There used to be exactly the same debate with the Athlon FXs against the X2s, the X2 was faster on paper but the single core FXs always did better in games.

Dual core can actually cause problems in older games like counterstrike. E.g. In SOE's Planetside it causes players to warp in game and get accused of cheating.

Everyone is looking for the ultimate gaming experience, and most people will tell you that it is the PC by default. Sure you will get the BEST graphics and performance available on the PC both now and in the future, but the fact of the matter is that the inferior console versions look great as well.Luckily there is one gamer out there who has taken the time to make a few videos explaining the pros and cons of PC gaming because despite what many people believe, it isn’t for everyone. This particular gamer has been an owner of all three consoles of this generation from the start and has gotten into PC gaming over the past year. I now turn the spotlight to a gamer who is only looking for the best experience possible when it come to gaming. So i choose PC.

Even though i swear by AMD, i'd go with the intel PC.
You're going to get a lot more life out of the dual core one, and it will be faster than the 3800+. It has less RAM, but you won't see the difference in CS:S, and the RAM can always be upgraded later for a relatively cheap price. Newer games will take advantage of the 2 CPU cores.
You'll get a ton of FPS from both of these machines with that 7600GS, easily over 60 at 800x600.

Core Duo is more future proof and has better benchmarks than the AMD processor you mentioned. Of coarse, AMD used to make processors that performed better than Intel despite lower clock speed but now Intel has begun to make some really awesome stuff. Still, there are a lot of people who don't realize that and think automatically that AMD is still better.

Go with the AMD, amd is almost as fast as dual core at processing. You should get over 100fps. i would say that pc is about 700-1250$

#2 alllll the way lol ... the core 2 duos kill the amd in every bench mark ... and you really cant tell the diff between 2 gigs and 1 gig ... on the whole the 2nd one will be much faster at EVERYTHING

The first one is better, especially for the same price. You would get over 60+ fps in source if you turn vsync off.

I'd get the first one because it's a better value but upgrade the video card to 512MB.

The first one because
-double the RAM
-and 'better' processor

Wait for evga (www.evga.com) or BFG (www.bfgtech.com) to come out with a 680a motherboard, then buy or build a system that's based on it.
