Hi there, ok lets start at the beginning. This is how I would do it: Firstly open your window, get some fresh air in the room. Then collect all your dirty laundry up and put it in the laundry basket. You can worry about that later. Then put away all your clean clothes. Already you will see an improvement. Then get a garbage bag, go around your room and pick up all the rubbish. Then choose a section of your room and work on putting the stuff away, it doesnt have to be neat at this stage, i.e. just put your books on the shelves (if your a kid, toys in the box), papers on your desk, you get the picture. When your floor is clear, you will feel heaps better. Then hoover/mop your floor get rid of all the mess on the carpet/floor. You will probably find all your stuff is piled on bookshelves, shoved in boxes etc, but at least it is away. You can deal with each section of your room one step at a time then. Like, do your bookshelves one day then something else the next day. The thing is to firstly clear away the clutter so you have a space to work with. Dont stress about it, it is awful going into a messy room you dont know where to start. Follow my guidelines, I am sure you will feel better. Keep a positive head and you will find it will work. Lastly you need to change your bedclothes, guaranteed if your room is a mess your laundry will need changing. Do you sleep with your feet pointing to the door? If so, try moving your bed around. It's bad feng shui to sleep with your feet pointing to the door. You will loose your good energy that way. Just try it hey, best of luck. :-)

Be sure you have some good storage. Get all the dirty laundry out and start the first load while you get some good music playing.. . bounce back to the laundry as you wokr on your room. Sort though things and put hings of like kind together. Look around your space when you wake up and think about what you would like to see. I like little plasitc containers that snap down shut for picures and beads and all kinds of small things. Do you have enough hangers for things that you can hang up? Look for old trunks or check out the good will for a couple of pieces of furniture that will store some of your stuff. It is hard to throw things out, but that is OK. Take a break and have a snack or something to drink once in a while. It is so nice when it is done and things are shiny and bright and your space is welcoming you. That thought helps me stay with jobs that get boring.

That must be some big mess you have there if it stresses you to try to clean it. Why not do it in pieces? Start with just one aspect of the mess and say "today I will do this to my room, but only this". So for instance you could clean off your dresser, put your jewelry away neatly, throw away trash, dust. Then stop. Go do something else. Either later or the next day you come back and do something else to the room - maybe pick up all your clothes and put them away. Nibble away at the mess until you get it down to something you can deal with or until you've done it all. Don't try to do it all at once and it will be easier.

I am a super neat freak! But, here's my advice to everyone else!
I clean everyday, so I never have to clean!
Do a little everyday.
Start by making your bed. This will make your room look instantly better! I can't leave my house without making my bed!
The next day, pick up all your clothes! Do laundry, and put your clothes away!
Then, get baskets and put books, CD's, and other odds and ends inside and put on them your shelves and nightstand.
Next day dust and vacuum, open windows to let light in!
Get some fresh flowers.
Repeat!
Have a system!
I like how others mentioned music! That does help! Put on the TV for background noice! Have friends over for an organizing party!
Cleaning doesn't have to be boring! It can be theraputic! I used to hate it, now I really like it, but its not for everyone!
Good luck.

You probably get stressed because you hate doing it and your mother is all over you like white on rice about it. It's her home, remember, and you are old enough to be able to take a responsible attitude towards respecting your personal space, and respecting your obligations as part of the family.
You want to talk about stress? Try getting out there on your own, paying your own bills, and having to deal with the rules, not just of the house, but the whole of Society. Get working on that room with happiness that this is the least stress you are EVER going to have during your whole life. LOL

Here's a few ideas:

1. Turn up the music! Put on some music that really moves you, makes you feel like dancing, and turn it up. If it makes you move, then it makes it easier to keep cleaning.

2. Focus on one section of your room at a time. Do one bit, then turn and do the next bit, etc. It's too demoralising looking at your whole room and seeing the mess. Just focus on one bit (like one wall or something) at a time.

3. I find it really helps putting my boy's stuff away when I've got a plastic crate for everything. It's easy then just to chuck all the same stuff in one box together - I even labeled the boxes, like Matchbox cars, super hero stuff, army stuff, puzzles, etc.

Good luck!

Strange! I feel a lot better after cleaning my room. In your case you need to find a girlfriend who loves to clean.
