Ok... try this.
On the oxygen channel there is a show called "Talk Sex with Sue". Pretty much it's a 30 min show where this old Dr. answers all questions related to sex (hence the name). You will hear a lot of questions that may trip you out, things you didn't know, etc.
But... watch it with your man, and try to bring it up with him at a time when a question like that is asked. (Or just pretend.) Say... he honey I was just watching this show and they were talking about how to make sex more exciting... "What do you think?".
From there you could kinda get a feel on what he might like/dislike.
It's better than just saying it bluntly, after all... you were watching a show, and just wanted to know right?

As I've recommended before, removing the Furmuda Triangle would probably get his eyes to roll back in his head. (I mean that in a good way) I'll let you in on a little secret.
