Don't tell! I told my daughter right before Christmas when she was in third grade because I was afraid she was going to be teased by her older peers. In her own words " You've ruined Chritmas for me! " Kids will stop believing when they are ready. Deep down inside they do know at a fairly early age but like to keep the myth alive as long as they can. In this world today - what's wrong with believing in a little magic?

Tell him there is a Santa Claus it's true! Every mom who stays up to 2 am wrapping presents is Santa. Every dad who spends all night putting together a bike is Santa! Just because the fictitious man in the red suit doesn't exhist doesn't mean there isn't a little Santa in all of us.

Ask him if he believes in Santa. If he says "yes", then say that there is a Santa Claus in real life and that it's never too late to believe your Christmas spirits! I think this would just make the kid's Christmas happier.

Tell him Santa lives in people hearts, it is true, and the kid may be slightly confused but not depressed over a negative Santa response from you.

Let his parents know that he's beginning to doubt, and then just tell him you've never met Santa, but that doesn't mean anything since there are lots of people you've never met. Hopefully this will satisfy him until his parents get a chance to decide what they want to do.

Go ahead and tell him there is a Santa, he will find out soon enough from his friends and even his folks, let him dream as long as possible.

Tell him there is a Santa Clause...He's too young to stop believing.
And If you do tell him...It wouldn't be lying...Just pretending?

yeah, that is quite a dilemma, and it's not really your job to decide whether or not he should know about santa's existence/lack therof...maybe tell him to ask his parents.
