Giving is the Christmas spirit. Go and finish your shopping. That might spur you to decorate if you haven't already. Then put on some nice Christmas music and vuala, you've got the Christmas spirit. lol

You know what? A lot of people feel that way this year...I don't understand it. I drive around to look at the Christmas lights every year just as my Grandmother used to do. This year I don't see many lights in the Metro Detroit area...The lights usually put me in the mood. This year I had to be creative with the mood setting. I downloaded my favorite old Xmas songs...I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas, All I want For Christmas is My Two Front Teeth, I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause, Chipmunk Christmas and a few others. I turn up the volume and dance and sing like a kid! I save the other stuff, Burle Ives , Nat king Cole, Neville , and the other grown up music for company!

I don't know what to tell you honestly. I've been feeling the same way too.
I've done the donation things, the volunteering and helping to spread it around to others, but I still just don't feel it inside for myself. It's as if I'm just going through the motions.
I've listened to Christmas music, tried to wear more "christmasy" clothing, even decorated the house, the tree, made and bought presents, wrapped them all and addressed all the Christmas cards.
It's just not cold enough and there's absolutely no snow anywhere around here. It's just depressing as anything and simply doesn't feel like Christmas to me. Even with all the houses lit up and all the shoppers buzzing about.
It just seems so fake, so forced, so lame.
If you figure out how to find yours maybe you can let me know too.

Why don't you donate a toy you had as kid, or wished you had, to a toy drive for underprivleged kids? Or volunteer some time at a shelter. Baby-sit someone's kids for an afternoon so they can get some last minute shopping done; and sing Christmas carols with the kids. Giving is a great way to feel the spirit of Christmas.

Be kind to someone. Call someone you haven't spoken to in a while. Compliment a co-worker. If you are religious, pray. Lend a hand if you can. Forgive someone, or an act done by them. Always remember; no matter how down we are at Christmas time, there is always someone worse off. I hope you regain your Christmas spirit. Merry Christmas!

I'm in the same situation...so I went to the store and bought the Burl Ives Christmas CD and also the music from The Nutcracker. Then I went home, lit up a bunch of candles and hung out with my husband and made peanut brittle. It immediately made me feel better. Going out into the madness makes me grouchy...some good music and loved ones made me feel much better. I also always like to do one of those giving tree dealies...there are so many people in your own city that are less fortunate, it's a good time to give back and also to bask in your own love for others.
Then it's on to the new year, finally! Happy holidays.

Go get the Trans-Siberian Orchestra Christmas DVD. Always works for me, and TSO is awesome.
