...if people's personal info (address, phone #, etc) suddenly became visible? If not, do you think people would be less inclined to talk smack about other people, knowing that they could be found?

This is only a question. I know people get pretty worked up in the religion section. There have already been instances of "internet rage" reported. I wondered if Yahoo! Answers would be part of the "rage" phenomenon also...

I'm inclined to think that very few people, when offended, are ever in a position to act out against the source of their offense; however, I find it highly likely that the removal of anonymity would incline the community toward gentler and more thoughtful responses.

Actually, as I am very good with computers, I can. From this site, I can get your IP address. With that, I can get your full name, address, phone number, and any other info you have ever used online.

Agreed. that is operating rampant everywhere in the internet, a lot less difficult to be passive-aggressive over the internet than to actual have the dump automobiles to threat getting their faces rearranged for his or her deranged options and slurs.

if people could be easily identified people would definitely think twice before saying something. there are already so many idiots on answers, spreading their rage
