hehe, you are bound to get some pretty creative answers to this question.

i'll try to give you an unbiased answer.

in a nutshell the difference is primarily between big government and small government. the democrats tend to want more government programs (welfare, social security, national endowment for the arts etc.) and more government control over business. whereas the republicans usually want to limit government programs and control over industry in favor of a lower taxes and a more free economy.

there are also differences which tend to follow party lines.

generally democrats are more environmentally conscious then republicans. however there are some republicans who are very green and some democrats who couldn't care less for the environment. but this is only a rough generalization.

republicans tend to be more socially conservative (pro-life, anti-gay marriages, pro religion in the schools etc.). however there are some dems who are very socially conservative and some republicans who aren't. again, this is just a rough generalization.

From a text book standpoint, Democrats favor more Federal involvement whereas Republicans favor to leave more up to the individual states. Though that line has been blurred in recent decades.

They have different names and they have different mascots.

One tends to use left-wing demagoguery, and the other tends to use right-wing demagoguery, and neither accomplishes anything now or during the past 20 years. Both accept bribes and spend taxpayer dollars irresponsibly. Neither have a plan for the future, nor do they really debate the issues.

The people who vote for them are sheep.

Democrats believe in big government. They don't think the people are capable to take care of themselves.
Democrats want everyone's paychecks, and then the Democrats will take care of them.
Republicans say: let us keep our paychecks, and we'll take care of ourselves. Get out of our pockets, Democrats.
