A friend of mine has one and they are going to throw it in the trash.. It is not powerful enough to pick up anything well

No I don't want one. I have a friend that does and she grips about it all the time. It will work good on bare floors versus carpeted ones.

No, I just don't think they would be very efficient. They look like they would miss the corners. I just don't see how something like that could be as good as doing it yourself. Do you own one?
