80% of the economy is tied to trade.

We sell our goods and services to the world (principally the US)

Without international trade we would be no wealthier than a well off banana republic.

Now that you know from other learned people just how important trade is to Canada....ask how important trade is to the US.....
you'll find it is exactly the same..
the WORLD is now dependant on international trade...
think of it this way...
how many items in your house would NOT be there if there was no trade with Japan or China?...
your HOUSe probably wouldn't be there if not for Canadian wood....the bread you eat wouldn't be there if not for Canadian wheat...
the car you drive might be assembled in Mexico...
World trade is important to all of us...not just Canada.
Merry Christmas !!! Oh ya...HE comes from the North Pole...and that's a lot closer to Canada than YOU are....LOL

Canada's economy could not survive without trade, trade liberalization, including removal of tarriff and non-tarriff barriers. We are a partner and initiator of the North American Free Trade Agreement. Our primary trading partner is the US at over 80%, generally in the industries of resources. We are also part of other preferential trade agreements with Chile, Israel, Mexico.
