I hate to be ignorant but, why would the crime go up? Why African-American Community? Why would it be different for one race than the other? It is a Christian holiday. I am white. The Black (my black friends call themselves black and allow me to do so also) celebrate the same as I do.

If you don't want ignorant answers, don't ask ignorant questions. Plain and simple. What makes you think that the "African-American Community" would vary at all from any other race/creed/and/or religion, when it comes to Christmas and celebrations? That just goes to show that stereotypes still play such a major role in society's thoughts and ways. To me, that is being completely narrow minded to "assume" that they are affected in a different manner, etc...FYI-African-Americans are PEOPLE that can and do the same as others when it comes to Christmas!
