How can it be that a mere question begins debate about religion?
Herein lies the problem.
All you want is our opinion.
I think logic tells me the chicken but then my brain says wait a minute I think the egg came first and some other animal hatched it.
I say it's a draw.
It's one of the catch twenty-two questions.
This is why your brain spins.
No matter.
Chicken, egg, or egg, chicken.
Either way.
One had to come first.
I don't bother about it, I just accept it.

If you dont believe in evolution then dont look at this answer
according to the theory of evolution then we all evolved from single celled things that lived in the water. so the way i see it the modern day chiken had to evolve from a previous species. somewhere along the lines something went wrong in one mating which lead to a chicken EGG that hatched a CHIKEN
So in conclusion the egg had to come before the chiken

i have always failed to see why some people think this question hard; it doesnt even depend on whether you believe in creation or evolution, the answer is the chicken. if your creationist, then obviously the bible tells us animals were made, adam named them, male and female...if your an evolutionist, then still the chicken first, out of whatever species the chicken evolved, eggs would never hatch anyway without the mother to incubate them. the better question is: WHY DO PEOPLE THINK THIS IS A HARD QUESTION?

depends on if your religious or not. if you are than it was the chicken because god created everything at the same time even those annoying chickens. it you aren't then twas the egg. it was through evolution that something else became a chicken thus an egg first.
