You have to go to the SS office with your marriage license to get it changed. You also need to go to the bank and drivers license bureau to have all of that changed. I made a lot of copies of my marriage license to send to all of my credit card companies, and other bills that I have. It takes a while until you get everything changed over. Congratulations!
By the way, if you are flying anywhere for your honey moon, book the flight with your maiden name, because your ticket will not match your id and they might not let you on the plane.

No, you don't have to change it, you can keep your name that you have right now. Usually after you get married, you only change your last name. If you want to change it, go to the Social Security Dept.

Yes, if you change your name when you are married, then it gets changed on everything. Otherwise, when you apply for credit and the names are different, you will have a problem.

Change you name, it is easier on your kids, less to explain to school, less to explain to everyone, not worth the hassle.
Besides if you love your husband and you are secure enough in your own identity it won't matter what your last name is.
I have now had my married name longer than I had my maiden name....IF you want your maiden name to live in you can use the hyphen as in Courtney Cox-Arquette or you can name your kids like Maddox Jolie-Pitt.
... A Man shall leave his mother and a Woman leave her home and the two shall become one...

You don't have to change you name. My niece kept her maiden name when she married and is a dentist using her maiden name. But I would ask my future husband if he doesn't mind your keeping your name first.
Look how many profession people and actors keep their own names after marriage.

Only if you want to. If you want to change your name to your husband's name, you will have to get many different documents updated. But, if you want to keep your own last name, everything stays the same, only your status changes.

First off, don't let a fight this late in pregnancy be so ominous. Let things settle, do your best to mend the arguement and then talk about it. Yes, she can legally put any name she wants on there. Sorry, but it's just the truth. You should focus more on making up though, I'm sure it was a huge fight, but debate (to yourself for lands sake!) how much is just the high charged emotions of an impending baby arrival. Stress can make things seem a lot bigger than they really are. Please don't write off your relationship over a fight with a pregnant woman. If you don't agree to the naming at the signing of the birth certificate, insist on a new form. Either way, the day the baby arrives, I'm sure there will be much bigger things on both your minds than the vengeful naming of a last name. It'll work out in the end... this is a stressful time, it won't pass but it will ease. Congratulations to you both!

My opinion, hyphenate your last name, Don't give up your complete identity. God forbid things don't work out, it is hard to get your first identity back.
