I'm anemic too. Do not use birth control unless you are sexually active. I was put on birth control when I was 12 to help my period. They didn't work. It took 3 ER visits a year and 1 hospitalization a year for 10 years straight until they discovered what would help. ALEVE. Naproxen is the answer. Tylenol and Asprin can make cramps worse. I have dysmenorrhea. I don't know if you've been diagnosed with anything but you should find out. I have been pain free for 3 years now. I have a little discomfort the first day. Follow the directions on the Aleve bottle. I usually just need 2 pills the first day and 1 pill the second if needed. After the first day everything is fine. I also eat healthy and take vitamins. Exercise can relieve your pain. Don't let your period get you down. Naproxen is safe, but I found out the hard way I'm allergic to Motrin.

take a HOT bath. the cramps are from the uterine muscles contracting, so the warmth from the bath will relieve them for a while. In the mantime, try sending someone to the store. I know you said you're anemic, so I'm not sure if if certain medications should be avoided, but I personally like motrin. It's way better then anything (including midol) that I've tryed....

Go get some over the counter painkillers from the store. Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen can help with menstrual cramps.

Also look into getting a heating pad or hot water bottle of some sort. The heat can help as well.

And as odd as it seems, exercise can help. Going to the gym and biking or doing other cardio exercises helps some people.

Good luck to you.

A hot bath or heating pad is your best bet, but pain pills do not work on me so I drink any kind of tea with Red rasberry leaf in it. It works wonders. After years of drinking it I do not have painful periods anymore. I mean it still hurts but I do not want to die. Good luck!

Go to your college nurse's station and see what they have on hand. If you don't want to go that route, go to your local drugstore and buy some Midol pain reliever.
