Your eyes dry out if you wear them too long.
Listen carefully to what your optometrist & your optician have to say about the matter.
At thirteen, you're probably too young for them.
Follow your specialists advice, not Y/A.

After wearing contacts for about six months, I went back to glasses. If your 13 yrs old, it will be best to see if your eye doctor feels this will be better or okay. I had such a hard time trying to get the contacts in , then out. Glasses to me is just easier for me. Contacts for some people are great. I think it depends on what each person them self would prefer.

I first got contacts when I was 12, and I've had them ever since (5 years). Whether it's better to wear glasses depends on personal preference, whether your eyes can tolerate contacts, what type of prescription you have, and how well you care for your contacts. You should ask your optometrist if he/she thinks contacts would work for you.
They can't really flip back, but if you rub your eyes a lot, I find they move to the side of my eyes. They can't get permanently stuck (there's nowhere to go), but it is rather annoying. They can cause your eyes to dry out more quickly, which can be helped with eye drops. You shouldn't sleep in them for long periods of time unless your contacts are designed for sleeping. It takes time to get used to putting them in and taking them out. You need to be more careful when swimming, as they can come out, or the chlorine (if it's a pool) can irritate them. If you play any outdoor sports, dust or dirt can get under them, which hurts. Products such as makeup remover can irritate them, but most companies make them so that their product is compatible with contacts.
Overall, it depends on you whether contacts will work for you.

i got contacts when i was 13 and it was awsome cuz i hated my glasses so i never wore them and i couldn't see. they definatly beat glasses. the only bad things i can think of is putting it in backwards and when it like folds in ur eye if u rub it too much. whenever u put it in, look at it and make sure it looks like a normal bowl. thats the right way to put it in. and the folded contact thing only happened to me once so u really dont have to worry about that. make sure u get soft ones. ur eye doctor will tell u everything else u need to know and u do need to got the the dr.
good luck!!! ur gonna love them!!!

donning contacts longer than prescribed is undesirable by using fact over the years, an quite skinny calcium layer varieties over the touch floor. this accretion is so skinny it is not sizeable, nor does it catch airborne dirt and mud decrease than the lens. yet this accretion of calcium does preclude adequate oxygen from achieving the climate of the attention that they touch is masking. To make up for this oxygen loss, the physique will initiate starting to be blood vessels closer on your student with a view to furnish the oxygen that it particularly is being deprived of. at last, those blood vessels ought to probable strengthen over your student inflicting crimson tinted imaginitive and prescient, or perhaps plausible blindness.

wow. you need to really read up on this.
first of all, i've had contact lenses since i was 13. the risks are: inreased risk for infection, increased risk for scratches to the eye's lens, increased cost (usually) and increased requirements that you are mature and responsible and take proper care of the contacts. Also your eyes will be dryer than usual and you may only be able to wear them 8-10 hours a day. i can wear mine up to 14 but it is not recommended. Benefits include: no worries about losing/scratching/breaking your glasses, cosmetic improvements, you can change your eye color (this option is of course more expensive), no worries about having to constantly clean glasses or get them wet in the rain. remember that you should not swim in contacts (unless you are a very seasoned user of them) or sleep in contacts. it is NOT healthy to wear them to bed i don't care what anyone says. contacts decrease the oxygen supply to the lens and cornea. if you sleep with your eyes shut all night with a contact lens over your eye...i mean...c'mon. you will still need glasses to wear on days that your eyes are super dry or in case you'd get an eye infection or pink eye. you cannot share contact lenses. you have to be ultra gentle with them. are you a responsible 13 year old? if not, then don't get contacts. you have to carefully clean them every night. on the occasion, one will split in my eye and i will have slide out the pieces with a wet Qtip. you have to get used to touching your eyeballs. VERY used to it... i have had one get on the back of my eye a couple times but you just have to stay calm, flush with saline, and again..whip out a Qtip. sometimes you will need help to get it out but it doesn't hurt. i am only speaking on gas permeable contacts though...not the hard ones. i've never used those.

I love my contacts. They will not flip back, or up into your eye. That is a myth. You have to be careful when you swim though, as you can lose one in the water. I use the Night and Day brand....I can even sleep in them. I just have to replace them monthy. No cleaning solution required anymore!
