Dalton: Discovering the Law of Multiple Proportions. That is, when elements of different valences combine to form two different compounds, the ratio of the combining weights of these elements is a small whole number. Like NO. N2O; CuO, Cu2O These experimental data led him to conclude that matter exists as atoms, and that atoms combine to form molecules.

(This is not the same as the Law of Combining Weights, which was discovered earlier in Spain by a French chemist, Proust.)

Boyle discovered that the volumes of confined gases are inversely proportional to their pressures. This means: The higher you increase the pressure, the smaller the volume.

Einstein was originally famous for the photoelectric effect. This means that he calculated the number of electrons of electric current that could be generated by light falling on a cell. Actually, Einstein got his Nobel prize for that (LOL)!

As we all know, Einstein is more famous for telling us that the speed of light is constant and a maximum, and that locations in space and time are relative to one another.
