How do they locate ur phone??

lyk i mean u kno the cops do it.. to locate where ur cell phone is or sumtin.. can they stil locate it even tho ur phone is off? jw

its all radio signals - and there is almost no way of answering your question unless you have an understanding of basic radio technology and radio wave theory. The thing is that on top of the buildings and poles in some areas, there are signal repeaters that give your cell phone the signal it needs to contact you service provider. The repeater has a particular frequency that it uses for just your cellphone, and whoever has access to this repeater or the company itself, can locate you by following your frequency.
