I don't consider rap music period. I hate country music. What they call Rock now is way different than rock of the 70's-80's. If the Stones, Motley Crue, AC/DC,and Led Zepplin could keep putting out music forever at least we would have something good. Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx said they will be old and in rocking chairs on the porch still playing.I hope that's true.

In the 60s music was “about” something (the good and bad) and that poured over into the 70s but began to fade into meaningless in the 80s and beyond. So today so much is rock is just rebellion against the moon. In the 60s for example they were often extolling the virtues of drug use. Today we have junkies on every street corner so apparently it worked. But what to sing about now?

I agree and I don't agree. Part of it probably just has to do with your taste, part of it is probably that music seems to fluctuate between a bunch of crap and good stuff, part of it probably has to do with how broad of a scope you have for music (rephrased:scope of your sources of music), and part of it probably has to do with your own musical knowledge. Personally, I think music is increasingly being corrupted by the media (and I don't just mean morally, I mean the sound of it, like radio stations overplaying a song), but at the same time, I think there are way more bands and genres than ever before so that everyone can have something to listen to that they really like.

kinda sorta... it has changed that for sure...
the only difference i miss is that the old rock songs had a kick *** guitar solo that would last like 2 minutes, my fav one is the guitar solo at around the 1:30 mark in Aces High by Iron Maiden...
but like the times... music will allways be moving foward.

You are right. I can't stand the majority of music that is coming out now. That's why I stick to the classics.

Depends.
If you only listen to the Radio and MTV....then yes....way down.
You have to dig deeper to find good music.

umm.. no, I love today's music. If you are disappointed with the music you listen to, maybe you should try a different genre, like country for example!

I agree. You don't have to have talent anymore, just a cut face or a short skirt.

I disagree. There is plenty of fantastic music avaialable today. The trick is finding it.
Besides, do you really mean to tell me that disco is better that what you hear today?
