I dont think there was a reason. TRex was just angry and probably hungry. And that lawyer was a jerk, so in move-land that means lunch for a TRex

Because Spielberg changed the story, instead of the lawyer becoming a noble character who helps save the lives of others on the island, he decided people would rather see the lawyer get killed in a rather unflattering, if not humorous way.

Also M. Chritton actualy likes lawyers, a lot of his characters are lawyers. But Spielberg doesn't (he named the shark in "jaws" Bruce after his lawyer).

The movie is good, the book is better. Sadly the movie made Chritton sell out and change an important plot in the book so they could make a second movie with Malcolm in it.

*spoiler if you didnt read the book*

Malcolm dies in the book at the end from his wounds. But was resurrected because he was not "dead dead". hehe Clint-tonian phrasing at its best lol.

Supposedly the T-Rex was attracted to motion. The creature saw him run into the outhouse and then ate him.

Because the T-Rex was a carnivore. For all you mouth-breathers that means 'meat-eater'.
