I'm a young male that's starting work next month in a place that requires very professional clothing. I'm thinking to buy 5 suits, one for every workday of the week. I want something that's professional and conservative. (Someone told me, "You should dress like you're the boss, even if you're just the mailman.") What colors do you suggest? I already have a pinstripe navy blue suit and a pintstripe charcoal grey suit. Are these OK? What else do I need to add?

Great start with the two suits you already have! The main thing I believe you should look for is quality in the material used to make the suit. Make sure the suit will hold up through the rigor of dry cleaning, maybe having to be worn twice within a week, and not lose it's shape. Please make sure the suit "fits" you and doesn't look like it belongs on another man. Even if you find a suit that you love to death, take it and have it altered if necessary. Get granny, auntie, or someone in the family to help with this to offset some of the costs.
Although you need to dress professionally and somewhat conservatively, use your tie as a way to express your own personality. Maybe metallic colored ties, bold colors, and even patterns! As far as the suits go, blue, black, and grey are the safest way to go...oh yeah...the shoe will help set the entire suit/tie outfit up so don't be afraid to wear those square toe shoes offered by such designers as Nine West, Kenneth Cole, and the like. Also, black shoes don't have to go with all suits, venture out and try some browns, and even blacks. You may even try some pastel colored shirts in the spring and bold colored primary colored shirts during the winter. Congratulations on the new job and many blessings to you!

Those are both very good colors. You could just get different versions of the navy and charcoal suit you already have. Men are so limited. I worked in an office where the men had to dress very conservatively and the norm was dark navy, black, charcoal, brown with attractive ties. Also, once you start working, check out the suits that the other men wear, especially the bosses, and go with those colors. I would think that kelly green suit you have in the back of the closet for St. Patrick's Day would not cut it. ;-D Good luck with your new job.

Stay with blues, charcoals and even black. Forget browns and greens. If & when you see your boss in either brown or green, then you'll know what to buy in that color. But, more important is a quality suit from a named store...forget Sears. Get good ties, belt(s) and shoes too. Better 2-3 good suits than 5 cheapies. Throw in a dark blue blazer with some light grey or even tan dress slacks for something different. Shop for quality first, and then quanity.

Ya your goin pretty good so far, dark colors are nice, but nothing that stands out too much or makes you look like a guy in a Jazz band or something.

Dark blues, Greys, Blacks, possibly a dark green, or green and blue, and just a bunch of different hues for the blues, greys, and blacks.
