It is because most leaders are double-minded like the ideological jungle swamp from which they arose through a political process called 'natural selection'.
There is not one leader that knows the difference between good and evil, right and wrong. Most are amoralistic, stupendously idiotic and diabolically inane.
Therefore, in matters relating to anything you can trust leaders to lead society in the direction of their own split personalities.

confident there are double standards interior the middle East. human beings do no longer cry foul whilst the Hamas sends a million,000 rockets over the border in 8 years, yet cry foul whilst Israel finally strikes lower back. it is not ok for Arabs to kill Jews. So end the rattling whining on double standards Israel would not have them different persons have them. they are hypocrates. to this point as your article is going it says the soldier substitute into reprimanded. The government shows a double standard in everything else why stop for a pesky thing like fairness in politics. Drug companies/illegal drugs, rich people taxes/middle class taxes, church funding/other religious funding, majority white schools/ mostly minority schools, etc. You can find it in all branches of the government, like work it's not about being worthy it's about being a favorite.

No double standard that I can detect from the USA, though there is a definite double standard coming from the poisonous American left. They want us to care so deeply about the people of Darfur Sudan, yet they want to abandon innocent Iraqis to be tortured and murdered by insurgent terrorists.

The United States has to be against terrorism in all forms, and right now that primarily means Islamic fundenmentalist countires. We don't support Israel because they are Jewish, we support Israel because their enemies are terrorists. When the Islamic people figure that out, common decency can prevail and real diplomatic progress can be made.
