Because they have nothing else to bicker over and seem to feel it's important to have their opinion heard on the matter.

Geeze people! I'm happy just to have something nice said - I don't care what religious background it has!

It's all part of the political correctness we live in these days. They're so afraid to offend someone that we can't say Merry Christmas in case the person is muslim and doesn't celebrate Christmas. It's all a bunch of junk.

I read where a lady was upset because her son wasn't on the honor role, so the school abolished the honor role. For ONE person !!! How can one person dictate what goes on for everyone else?

Bottom line, all you need is one person to say they are offended by someone saying Merry Christmas for it to be abolished for use everywhere. So it's safer for stores to say Happy Holidays rather than take a chance on "offending" someone and getting sued.

It's ridiculous, but it's the liberal way.

Because nowadays, you can't get say anything without someone getting offended. As far as the argument that writing "X-Mas" is taking the Christ out of Christmas, that's not really the case. The word "Christ" and its compounds, including "Christmas", have been abbreviated for at least the past 1,000 years, long before the modern "Xmas" was commonly used. "Christ" was often written as "XP" or "Xt"; there are references in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle as far back as 1021 AD. This X and P arose as the uppercase forms of the Greek letters χ and ρ), used in ancient abbreviations for Χριστος (Greek for "Christ") (see Labarum), and are still widely seen in many Eastern Orthodox icons depicting Jesus Christ.

But, Christians have huge persecution comlplexes and think that everyone is out to destroy their religion. So there you go.
