1.) Santa Claus is a problem for poor children. They wonder why they haven't received any presents despite the fact that they've been good all year, but the spoiled trouble makers living on easy street was given all sorts of stuff.
Therefore, low income parents have to make painful excuses like "Santa is sick this year" or "Looks like he forgot our house."
2.) People already believe in a God, who is Santa Claus for adults. So yeah, why not believe in Kris Kringle? LOL
3.) Coca Cola used Santa Claus to boost sales of its soda during the winter time.
4. I'm as young as I want to be, regardless of my age.

1) Yes, the world is cruel enough, they need something good and fun to believe in.
2) Yes, there truely is something magical about the season, cease fires have occurred in wars, (and I know, all religious issues aside, I don't think that happens any other time of year). And what else can you use to threaten kids to be good that consistently works?

I think that it IS important for kids to believe in Santa because he is the champion gift giver, all he asks is for the child to behave and for that they can get toys that they want, he teaches them about being completely and totally selfless.

Because there is so little goodness and magic in this world - we should celebrate it every chance we get!
It takes you back to the wonderand niavity of childhood - something that we forget but should never loose.
