When installing a case fan, how does one generally know which way to aim the fan? I assumed the labeled part was the "out" or "blowing" direction. Is this generally correct? It feels right on my hand, anyways.

ALSO, should I generally have air blowing in, towards the guts of the computer (to cool it off), or out, as to suck out hot air? The problem is, I can't put a fan on the back AND the front of my case. There's just no spot in the front. However, the side of the case does have 2 spots I could mount fans. Should I put the fans on the side blowing IN, and the ones on the back blowing OUT?

One last question, what's typically a good fan I could mount to keep my video card cool? When I play WoW it tends to overheat and cause reboots.

Thanks!

You have a lot of choice when it comes to installing case fans. However, the most important thing is to design an intelligent airflow system. Your best bet is to use one fan as an intake, and use another fan as an exhaust. This will allow the greatest volume of airflow through your case. As for which fan to use for which purpose, try it one way (for example, the rear fan as an intake and the side fan as an exhaust) and measure temps, then reverse it.

On top of the above answers.... On the fan there is an arrow.... You may need to flip it around to find the arrow... This arrow indicates the airflow direction...

I tend to pull the air in on the front of the computer and exhaust the hot air out the back of the computer....

Also pay the extra and get ball bearing fans over sleeve fans (ball bearing fans last a lot longer)... You can also get fans that change their speed based on the temperature.... These will cost a bit more, but you won't have the sound all the time...

I used my rear 12cm fan as the exaust (blowing outwards) and my case fans blowing inwards because I have two front fans for my hard drive, and my other components have their own fans. It suits airflow best if there is one big fan to let hot air out while smaller fans blow cold air onto components such as chip, video card, hard drive and RAM, for example. So the rear fan outwards, and any extra fans inwards towards components.
