My dad said I can have anything I wanted for Christmas no matter the price. I really want a Playstation 3. How do I ask hm for one when it's $600 I know he said no matter the price but I feel bad asking for such an expensive gift.

just ask " even a ps3" then he will either know the price or ask you how much, you tell him and he'll tell you yea or no, but theres another problem to, even if he will get it for you, youll still need to find one

That one guy makes a good point that they are pretty much impossible to find at the moment. And the ones are ebay are around $800 at the cheapest. However,(if you know a place to get one) if you really do want one, and you think its something you'll have fun with for a long time, then go ahead and ask him for it. If you feel still feel guilty about the price (which I would too, to be honest), just don't ask for much else during the next six months to a year. That way the cost balances out for him. Instead of getting a bunch of smaller things, you got one awesome thing and it cost him about the same price. That's how I try to make decisions when I'm asking for an expensive item.

The average person spends $800 on xmas gifts. If dad makes a lot more than the average person, don't feel bad. However, if you have to ask if you should feel guilty, then you probably already do. Is dad trying to buy your affection, or can you accept this gift in good conscience? If you still feel bad, is your bday around the corner, and could it be a gift for both?

wait on the ps3 there are only a couple of good games out, i only bought one game and just watch blu-ray movies on it. can you ask him for some money or giftcard and then you can put the rest of the money and buy it after christmas when there are more around.

Problem is that there's none in the stores now, so if he wants to get you one, it'll likely be through ebay. That'll definitely be more than $600.
I guess that's something else to consider...

Maybe you should ask him to give it to you later. The PS3 is not crap but only has one good game right now. I suggest waiting and telling him to save the $ for you.

Is good that you a conscious to ak yourself that question first. The first question you must ask yourself; How much money does he makes ? If he makes alot, go ahead and tell him. PS3 is a must get item.
