When was the last time you gave a homelesss person change/dollar?

what persuaded you to? if you dont, do you rationalize that 'they are gonna spend it on booze' even though if you were sleeping on concrete you might want to go numb yourself?

btw- i understand about 'beggar scams', and i dont hold those against anyone

If I have a dollar or two I always give homeless people money. I rationalize it this way.

It could be that one time that I didnt give that person money that they really did need it for food and not booze.. and I didn't help them when I am so blessed.

Also, God knows your heart. He will judge you based on your heart, not on what that person does with your money.

I sometimes give homeless people change if they are sitting down against a building and not begging. They are just sitting there with a hat in front. But if theres a begger thats wandering about, I don't and try to stay away.
A friend did once and he kept following her around for more till she walked towards a police officer who was taking a break at an outdoor coffee shop.

If its summer time and I ate out. I may have leftovers but if I had to do errands and its to hot to leave the food in the car without spoiling it, I would give it to a homeless and hungry looking person.

I haven't given money to homeless people in ages. I have my own bills to worry about, and I have no idea whether the people are homeless or not. Some people make a living standing by the freeway exit with a sign, and at the end of the day, they go home and watch tv. I do give money to charities, who in turn help the homeless. I let them discern the needs of the poor.

I don't. I give to charities that have the purchasing power to make that $1 go a lot further. And I tend to donate for childrens' causes.

Yesterday, and it depends on the homeless, I mean if they reek if booze, I rather buy them some food.
