I am still having problems with my 1989 chevy astrovan. I have changed the fuel pump, fuel injectors, and the fuel filter and my van still won't start. Can anyone give me any advise on what may be wrong.?

You have addressed about every fuel related problem. Does the van fire or pop at all when cranking? You may not be getting fire - this may be caused by a faulty module for the electronic ignition. Pull one of the plugs and with it where you can see, turn the engine over to see if you get sufficient spark. It could also be a coil, but I would guess that the module is bad. I had one of these go out one time on my '89 model.

Does the fuel pump work ? When you turn the key on do you hear the pump in the tank run ? ( take the gas cap off and have an assistant turn on the key...you should hear a momentary hum ) note that if you have been trying to start it in the last minute or so that the fuel pressure will be up and it WON'T do this...gotta wait ....IF the pump works...then is there fuel going down the throttle body ? ( if it's a vortec the 6 injectors are located in the intake so you can't see this ) You also might try spraying some Choke Cleaner down into the throttle body or intake ( depending which engine you have ) and see...if....it...will try to start. If it tries and then quits you might have fuel delivery issues....but this will get you at least to first base.

Have you tried checking the electrical supply and ground for the fuel pump?

I can only tell you this. if it has plenty of spark, and correct fuel pressure ,then its a possible the ecm is not turning on the injectors, but to be sure i would want to have a scan tool tell me its commanding them on .

did you check the battery for corrosion, loose connections, or the battery itself? Sometimes its the easiest thing that is the problem.. also check your fuses in your ecu compartment.. If none of these... tap the starter/coil with a little hammer lots of times.. it might be clogged.. if it works take off the starter/coil and clean it out.. put it back in and it should be good for at least a month so u can have time to buy a new one... good luck

Yes, put spark plug in it, If you have spark to the plugs, then change them. they are fouled out, I have seen a quite a few cases this fall. I think you will be suprised at the results...

An engine needs three things: SPARK, FUEL and MECHANICAL COMPRESSION. Don't over-engineer the problem.
