A casbah is not really just a home or house. It is more specifically a citadel or a castle. It usually refers to one that is walled and/or encircled in some way.

It's "casbah," from the Arabic for "fortress."
Most commonly used in reference to the central part of the city of Algiers, though any old city in the Arab world is likely to have a casbah.

when I visited Morroco many years ago the casbah was an outdoor marketplace where i bought and traded some cool stuff
