Alice in Wonderland - lots of room for analysis
Animal Farm, 1984, Lord of the Flies - great for discussing governments power or abuse of it
Catch-22 - dark humor, discusses paradox of being too crazy to fly and being perfect to fly b/c only pilots are crazy
Tears of a Tiger - moral choices, drunk driving, making responsible decisions
what topic do you want to cover? do you want to teach critical thinking? or have an interesting story that students WILL read?

I think that Sharon Draper's "Tears of a Tiger" has a moral lesson that can impact high schoolers.
