Try some of the southern states like Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina or Alabama. I've got family in Alabama and the cost of living is super low but the pay is good so teachers can live comfortably.

Oklahoma is a good state to teach, if you don't want enough to pay your bills. I have been teaching for 20 years and am now making the same as one of my students who has no college education and graduated last year. In fact once he get his first year of work, he will make lots more than me. In some states you teach because you love the kids and the satisfaction when one comes home and tells you how important you were in their life
