From experience I would say a herniated disc with degeneration. I have had a lot of injuries, all kinds of sprains, bruises, cuts, and broken bones. I had one bone actually come out of my flesh, but I recovered from all of them, but having a herniated disc is something at 21 I do not think I can ever recover from. All the doctors I have saw have told me I'll never play basketball again, I just wanna go out and practice and work hard, thats all I have ever wanted in life. The most painful sports accidents are in my opinion the ones that do not heal. It is tough for me, I thought I knew what pain was and it never bothered me. I took every injury as a challenge, but my views have changed. I know people may disagree with me, but if they ever experience what I have, I think it would change their views also. I think it might just be one of those things you have to experience to realize how bad it is...

If you are in Canada, your provincial health plan will cover any medical costs and prescriptions caused by injuries -- even optometrists. Provide your optometrist with copies of the accident report and ask him to bill it to your medical services plan. The Ministry of Health will then take it up with the insurance companies or private parties. If they can't collect, they'll cover it anyway. You honestly don't need to lift a finger. If you suffer any other types of losses -- lose of work, loss of vision, inability to play sports, pain, etc. -- then you may contact a lawyer about suing either party. Considering weather was ruled as the cause and 'no-fault' was agreed to by both drivers... any lawyer is going to tell you that the insurance for the vehicle you were in will probably to required to pay, even if you go to court.

I was a first baseman when I played Little League. One game it was runners at first and second, one out, top of the sixth inning (that's how long a Little League game is), and we were up a run. Batter hits a perfect double-play ball down to first, a beautiful chest-high bounce. On the second bounce, the ball hit a pebble or something and skidded. The bad hop went right under my glove and struck home in the, uh, ummm, groinal area. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
P.S.--in baseball, at least at that level, only the catcher is wearing a protective cup.

I know a girl who I was cheerleading with went down to do the front jump splits, landed incorrectly and broke her pubic bone. I don't think that felt very good at all. She was in a partial body cast for a few weeks.

Tearing one or multiple ligaments in the knee; Full ACL tears are particularly painful. I also hear that breaking ones collarbone sucks pretty badly.

Any kind of ball to the groin on a guy. Getting a broken rib and it punctures your lung. Mine didn't puncture, it just made it so that I couldn't breath.
