start shopping when you want to now....have you had your scan... i waited to find out everything was ok and then shopped til i dropped, getting it all done and out the way and then you can relax and pamper yourself towards the end of your pregnancy...as for the baby shower, have it whenever you want, i think i would leave it til about 7 months.
Basics to buy.. baby gro's baby bath moses basket blankets sheets bottles steriliser(even if you breast feed it is handy to have for tired days when you can express) moniters, thermometer, pram, car seat, i used alot of johnsons products and started buying bit by bit so by the time i gave birth i had everything from cotton balls to nappies to bubble bath. i think this should get you started but you can get alot of info on what you need from mothercare. they are really helpful.....Congratulations and Good Luck xxx

Your basic requirements would be a cot, and a pram! Most prams these days come with the little seat, which can be used in a car! Then some clothing and bedding! You really don't need to go overboard as you will undoubtedly receive a lot of gifts! I bought the basics, vests, babgrows, blankets and a dummy! They do grow out of their things very quickly in the first year, so don't go too mad. You could start buying things now, and build it up. Especially nappies!! baby soap, baby lotion, wipes. Obviously a nice mobile for over the crib/cot ... and just see what you get as gifts!

This is the time to work out the definite items and which ones to choose as in makes/colours etc..such as cot...car seats, feeding systems and milk if you aren't going to breastfeed. Which nappies ....clothes can wait. I've got 4 weeks to go and were just buying now. This is my third and over the years both my partner and I have passed on ALL of the baby stuff!! One thing that is worth considering is storage of baby clothes nappies and all the paraphernalia that goes with it. Spend a couple of months researching to get the best deals and product information. For the first few months all you will need are practical clothes...babygros...vests...and muslins for feeding. Maybe a couple of nice outfits for if you go out or visiting friends etc. Go out looking now whilst you still can...I've hit the waddling stage!!!
PS...just remembered...if you are going to breastfeed...make sure you have something or somewhere that is comfortable to sit...you may be there for some time. A good cushion support for mum is a good idea.

Try EBAY! I got so much of my little guys stuff on there. I got brand new items that were a fraction of the cost of stores. Things you can't live without-infant car seat, swing, bassinet (crib you can wait until the baby is 3 months old) receiving blankets, onesies, sleepers, wipe warmer, a few 4 oz bottles and a great bag that you can fit babies things & your things in. I started early. I bought wipes & diapers, baby bath, lotion.. that kind of thing to start. When I found out I was having another boy-then we got serious about which carseat, bassinet, clothes, blankets, etc. Good luck! :)

www.babycentre.co.uk is a good place for all baby info, including the list of what to buy. Just bear in mind that the baby market is saturated with products that they would like us to think we need, but are actually unnecessary. I found the changing unit a complete waste of space, for example, and a changing mat on the floor or bed is better.

You will want to decorate the nursey, and need kids furniture to go in it. You'll need a cot, maybe a moses basket, bedding to go with, a few sets of clothes (you'll be given lots), baby toiletries, car seat, pram/buggy. While you're collecting these, you'll come across everything else you might need/want...

Good luck.

at 3 months its no biggie to buy stuff yet. and a baby shower doesnt normally happen til around 7 or 8 months. but after about 20 weeks. start looking around for ur crib, carseat and all the accessories. go to babycenter.com for the checklist of things u need.

Start buying in the next few months:

Stuff for the nursery;

Cot/Crib
Furniture

Leave till your about 6/7 months:

Clothes
Pushchair
Toiletries
Car seat

This is how i did it.

Shop around for bargains, but remember safety first. Second hand is okay for certain things but definitely NOT car seats, and anything that you get second hand, check over thoroughly.

There is not a lot that is a necessity........

You can just buy a baby mat to change them and a sponge for the bath..........

Or you can go all out and get one of everything..........baby stuff always seems to be in stock so I wouldn't worry yet.....

Just sit back at leaf your way through all the free catalogues you get and decide from there........

Babies r us is a good place to start, (in toys r us)

good luck and rest easy while you can
