All sides give things better names to sell them. They call bribery "lobbying", they call murder "abortion", they call slavery "social programs", they call surrender "re-deploying the troops".

No. The estate tax is an example of a temporary tax placed on the people and never being discontinued. The government initiated the estate tax to help fund WWI. At the time, it only applied to the very wealthy. After nearly 100 years of inflation it now is starting to effect the middle-class.
There are loop holes to this tax, but those loop hole only apply to the very wealthy. Most middle-class people can easily acquire assets during their lifetime in excess of $1.5 million, which places their estate in that tax category.
It is time for this "temporary" tax to be repealed.

I have an idea. Let's have a random shooting each day.

Since it affects less than 1% of all Americans, it must be ok!

We don't like it when the rich use their money to weasel out of crimes they commit. But by that same token, you shouldn't be writing laws which steal money from people who have already paid their taxes, just because they are rich. There should be no double standards.

Would you want to be taxed when giving your money to your family when you die? You already paid the government.

Would you want to get charged for all the tolls you ever paid, again? You already paid. Now there is a law forcing you, and only you, to pay again. How is that fair and just law?

It was a "sick move". . . especially since you have to be a millionaire to qualify for the "death tax".

Just think of all the poor sons and daughters of millionaires having to give part of it to the government. . . just makes you want to weep.

I think it was meant to hi-light how rediculous taxing death is.

And that is basically what the estate tax does. When a person dies he has to give money to the government? How does that make sense?
