a. They never would have done that. They don't do it today (LOL)!
b. Yes. They prided themselves on knowledhge of Greek and Latin and on the acceptance of Shakespeare's words into the language.
c. Ridikulus! as Harry Potter might say. They never tried to go backward.
d. No. The French Academy tried to do that with the French language. There was never any English academy tghat tried to do that.
