I have a siamese fighting fish & one of his eyes is very swollen. It has been like this for a few weeks now. I read up on the internet & thought it might have just been something in his water so I have changed the water in his tank & scrubbed it out several times now but it is not getting any better.

Is there anything else I can do???

What is wrong with him?

I don't know much about fish so the best I cqan tell ya is to take him to your local vet. If they don't deal with fish then go to a fish store and ask them. He might have poked it on something. Are there plants in the tank or something with an edge? All I can tell ya is to ask around.

It can be a bacterial infection that go started because of poor water quality. First, I'll mention that any fish need a cycled and filtered tank to thrive, any tropical fish needs a heater too. Even bettas! At least 5 gallons is best. Google "nitrogen cycle" and check out fishlore.com... they have a great forum on all kinds of fish!

Now, setting that aside, at this point you need to get broad spectrum anibiotics for fish that target bacteria. What your fish has is called pop-eye, so read the packet at the store and make sure it says for use with pop-eye. There are antibiotics that take care of gram negative bacteria, and there are anitbiotics that take care of gram positive bacteria. Start with one, use it for a week, if it dose not work, try the other.

Be very careful to follow the instructions on the medication.
Good luck!
