Jim Morrison (the Doors). Gallileo. Einstein. Not that I necessarily think Morrison is in the same category as those two great and brilliant men, but he was certainly a non-conformist! How about some women: Amelia Earhart, Isadora Duncan, Jane Goodall, to name a few?

The easy answer is Henry Thoreau, the author of Walden. He wrote quite a bit about why he is a non-conformist, which makes it easy to write about him.
