As a nonbeliever, it means nothing to me—except ancient Near Eastern theology. In Abrahamic terms, it represents the transition from the earth being ruled by mankind, to the transition of God’s (Yahweh’s) kingdom (i.e. ‘The Kingdom of God’). Essentially, countries will no longer by ‘ruled’ by man, and instead, the installation of God’s kingdom (be it on earth or on a celestial plane of existence – it all depends on one’s theology) will reign supreme. “Armageddon” is, essentially, the interim period of the transition.
