They should be allowed to express it.
It's their right to, and it should not be taken away from them.
I wouldn't want to be censored in my speech, so they shouldn't be censored either.
Besides, they serve as a warning to us that there are still individuals such as they who still have mentalities that are ignorant and backwards. It's a reality check to say the least.

I think we should still have freedom of speech; however, I agree with you that some of the questions on here are not appropriate. Y!A can play a part in making sure some of these questions that violate the community guidelines are not posted the minute the person hits "submit." Also, the users can play a part by reporting these people who do it to get reactions from others.

Yahoo owns this service and all comments become their property - of which they have complete rights to censorship on any grounds. You probably find that in the agreement you and I clicked on without reading.
But what i think you're getting at is more about what is on the internet in general? In which case you have a ethical problem that there is not an owner of the internet. So who is to be the judge of what is approriate or not?
However if you're talking about the morality of allowing people to express "rascist view" - American law sees a difference between holding an unpopular belief - and using that belief to harm someone specifically. e.g. Mistrusting Blacks or making fun of Asian Drivers, is not the same thing as refusing them service, charging higher prices, increasing the requirements on their driver's test. Because in the second cases, a third party is being having their personal rights to fair and equal tratment infringed on.
Personally i think Yahoo Answers should activately filter content for illegal content (i.e. illicit drug trade, child porn), and unsolicited advertising, and not be involved with discerning what is an appropriate opinion.
members should be encouraged however to continue dialogue about their views as you are doing now.

That's up to Yahoo... They can allow or not allow anything they want on their servers. Free speech does not mean you have to supply someone else a soap box.
I would hope that Yahoo would go out of their way to shoo off anyone who is overtly racist, sexist or homophobic.

i think some questions are valid about other races, such as can black/asian have blue eyes. It's better you answer a question if you dont know because that is why i believe racism is so rampant because we dont know a lot about each other. However when they as ignorant questions like, why do blacks smell like monkeys no we are seeing stupid jerks

The very first answer says it all.
Its a widely held belief that only white people are racist but I've found that asians are really bad for it too.

Firstly, how would you stop it? Secondly, freedom of speech means allowing the stuff we don't like to be expressed along with the stuff we do agree with.

I hope they are not. Free speech rights should not apply when the purpose of the speech is an intent to harm any individual.
Also, you probably have to report abuse to get it stopped.

I abhor racism, but I think people should be allowed to express any opinion that they want.
