I'd get on YA, put my reason for my shame into my profile, then make a joke out of it.

Shame is vastly overrated.. If you have a true sense of guilt out of something you've done wrong to someone, make amends (correct the problem) and move on. Sitting in guilt get a person no where. Often people are laden by some moral guilt that is driven by an antiquated belief system.
There are a few things that make us get out of "self" long enough to see past the self deprecation.
Help someone else.. It's hard to dwell on your problems when you are helping someone else. I enjoy working on saturday doing manual labor for a friend and not wanting to get paid for it. He get free labor and I get out of the house.. Pick your poison.
Quit sitting in the poo..

Yes, yes, yes to all the above. Shame is a self defense mechanism that keeps you from repeating the same action and getting the same results. Stop calling things failure and start calling it experience. Learn proper communication skills and listen to others with interest.

By understanding that mistakes are made throughout one's life, and dwelling on said mistake will do nothing but cause depression and make things worse. Learn how to accept that you've made a mistake, and move on. If it is truly something that you cannot pass up so easily, find a way to fix it.

It's healthy to acknowledge your own faults and misgivings. You know you are only human. It's those who are shameless that are the real problem makers in life.
