The links below are to news items showing that there is a link between birth defects and older fathers. You may suggest that your sister ask her OB whether she needs to see a "high risk" OB (sometimes called a maternal-fetal health specialist). As early as possible, make sure that she is taking her prenatal vitamins. If she is on medications, ask the OB which, if any, she should discontinue.

Usually it's the age of the mom that might cause doctors to worry about defects. The boyfriends age would not have anything to do with a higher risk of miscarriage.
The baby will most likely be perfectly healthy as long as she takes her prenatal vitamins and avoids the things her doctor instructs.
I had a friend who at 18 had a baby by a man in his 40's and the child turned out perfectly healthy.

I recently read there are studies out saying that paternal age does influence whether the child has birth defects or not. It seems like chances should be slim since 42 is still relatively young. 35 is an appoximate age for women, it is not like your chance increases the day you turn 35. Even though men are producing new sperm all the time, the machinery is still aging too..

Perfection develop into lost at the same time as Adam and Eve sinned. it extremely is in effortless words area of it in spite of the undeniable fact that. Many little ones have defects because of what guy does. women smoke, drink and take drugs at the same time as pregnant, workmen tip toxins into our water resources, we've poisonous gases soaring overhead, we positioned poisons into the floor to strengthen 'more beneficial' vegetation, we upload stuff to our tap water and no-feasible refuse it, we churn out filthy fumes from an massive quantity of autos and so on. and so on. and so on. guy is polluting the proper international that God gave us and mistreating the human body deliberately and we then ask your self why issues are not any further appropriate. that is a lot less demanding to blame God than to take responsibility, isn't it? No, human children do no longer could pay for the sins of different human beings, in spite of the undeniable fact that that is often the sins of different human beings that create a a lot less-than-appropriate toddler. a toddler born with Aids springs to ideas, in days lengthy handed by technique of it used to syphilis and different similar issues. All brought about by technique of sin.

Typically, defects are related to the mother's age at conception. Since she is 20, she is less likely to have defects but more likely to have preterm labor. She needs to get prenatal care ASAP and follow doctor's advice.

I have a cousin who had a her first two children after forty and they are perfectly healthy. You can't worry about all of the possible things that might go wrong...it will make you crazy! Focus on enjoying the excitement of the baby coming and deal with things as they come.

Men can produce forever... it's the women who have more problems as they get older (we're born with all the eggs we're ever going to have).
