I've tracked the package and it's scheduled to be delivered today. I absolutely need to get it today, but I need to leave for 30 min at 5:30pm. Does UPS usually or always deliver their packages before a certain time? It was shipped using 2nd day air if that makes a difference.

I know that for some overnight deliveries they can guarantee it by 10:30 the next morning but you will have to pay a higher rate than overnight and receive it by the afternoon. As for other deliveries I do not think there is a certain time they have to be delivered by. With my experiences at UPS, they will drop the package off at my front doorstep whether or not I am at home. If you live at an apartment or condo, they leave a note for you to go to their distribution location to pick the package up.

During the holiday season we've had some things come as late as 9 p.m. You can leave a note on the door telling them where to leave it (somewhere hidden in the back or side of the house) and then tell them to take the note when they go. If you know your UPS guy, he will do this for you. Ours does.

They have a set schedule for your area. It can arrive at anypoint in the day but if you call them they can tell you the "window" of delivery to your area.

Everything slows down at this time of year. I'd have someone there; Murphy's law.
