All signs point to it being pirated. Thin DVD box, burned-looking disc and wouldn't play on my older DVD player. Also was available for rent on the weekend before release. The label on the cover was alldaflicks.com. I checked that site but it is passworded.

everything that you described leads to one sure conclusion. That movie is extremely bootleg. Did it also have the nice box art that was printed off of a home printer or copy machine. Sounds let a textbook bootleg flick to me
