You are very right to be worried. It sounds like he has sleep apnea. I don't want to scare you, but sleep apnea can damage the heart, and it sometimes has killed people.
He needs to have a sleep study done ASAP. Get him an appointment NOW if you can, as they often have long waiting lists, and then talk him into going.
The condition is easily and painlessly treated with a device called CPAP. Insurance will cover the CPAP, but you can't buy one without a prescription, as they have to be set to his individual needs. CPAP cures snoring 100%, and the user often feels much less tired during the day as well. (And so will you if you don't have him shaking the house every night.)
Please take this seriously and insist that he do so as well. It could well be a matter of life and death. He probably does not believe he snores - record him for a few minutes and play it back the next day - that will convince him.

I doubt there is any seriousness in your dog's snoring. I had sleep studies done because the docs thought I could have sleep apnea, because I snore and I am tired all day. I am a 5'3" 24 year old female weighing at a mere 103 lbs, so definitely not the high risk profile of an overweight black male! They found I snore loudly, and even stop breathing in my sleep, but not enough to cause any issues. If you're concerned, definitely have her checked out, but if she is not overweight and no other symptoms, I doubt you have anything to be concerned about.

I know how frustrating this is. My husband and I sleep in separate rooms because of his snoring. He's been tested for sleep apnea, but his is very mild. You can have your husband go to a sleep clinic where they can test him overnight and tell if apnea is a problem. He also might have a deviated septum. Surgery can open his nasal passages and help him breathe better. Obesity and smoking also play a role, but I don't know if your husband has either of these issues. As far as devices, I've also heard of a new dental device that adjusts the mouth while sleeping and virtually eliminates snoring. It's fairly new, but I've heard first hand - from a friend - that it has worked for her husband. Good luck!

yes, he could have sleep apnea which can cause heart and lung problems, he should do a sleep study( check with your doctor) and this test takes only one night. he might have to wear a sleep apnea machine for a few nights and then his body will adjust its self to make him better. tell him there are no needles involved just little stickers to monitor his heart rate and sleep state. NO big deal my husband had it twice. Good luck and do this for his health it is simple to take care of and far too important to put off. God Bless and Merry Christmas to you both. Claire

Has he tried sleeping on his side? There are also nasal openers (not sure what they're called) that you can get in a local drug store which proport to help snoring.
