I have read that the Amazon Women myths have Scythian and Sarmatian origins. Here are two books:

Actually, if you go to your search engine and type in Amazon Women, there is a wealth of information there for you ....they have guarded Greeks and other places found to be guardians too.

They most likely are real. Who knows maybe they are real anything and everything is possible. So the Amazons May be real. I think they are real. they just could be hidden or something like that.
