It's so famous. What is it about? Does it have to do with the Dust Bowl?

I read the Grapes of Wrath as well as many of John Steinbeck's books when I was a teenager

Yes, it has to do with the Dust Bowl.

It is the epic story of a family who is forced out of the Dust Bowl by draught and bank policy.
The fall for the shallow promise of a new life in California.
They finally reach the promised land to discover that they have to live independency, like slaves, but they will finally prevail as a family because they do not give up.
A great novel.
Steinbeck is one of my favorite American writers!!!
