call the past employers and get the dates. as for the gaps..you could say you were helping family with a business, or helping a a family member recover from an injury. i wouldn't say you were taking classes though, b/c depending on the job, they may ask you questions like what kind of classes or what were they about...then you have to lie even more...which if caught would not look good. be as honest as possible...if the gaps are small the family stuff will work best. your best bet is to get student loans or grants and go to college. that way when you apply for a job you are telling all truth! you are 20 and most ppl your age don't have serious jobs. i didn't get my first "serious" job until i was about 23....so go to college and work on making your life better...one day at a time. while in college work part time somewhere to help make ends meet

edit***try calling the local worforce commission, they help you write your resume and what to say for the gaps, plus they can even help you find a job and/or get training for one

Dude, go back to school!!!! The only way to get a detailed work history legally is to actually work. Go Back To School so that you can be considered for a real job. Take a 4 to 6 month course in something, then a company might take a chance on hiring you.

i had the same problem, however i was lucky, because my mom has a business, any gaps i had she covered for me, you could also say that you were a student. The job that i have now, my mom covered for some of the gaps, but i also told my boss that i did some traveling...it's a ll a matter of being creative. also depending on the situation, sometimes it's better to just be honest. by the way, congratulations, and keep on going down the right path.

Alot of people choose to write a Letter of Introduction. It tells about your work habits, your skills and just a few of your jobs. Like the last 3. Dates dont have to be exact. The letter should have at the bottom things you like to do, just briefly, and then why you want to work for them and why they would benefit havin you. A good letter like that, they wont ask for more.

Just write down in the gaps that you were taking classes to fulfill a degree, or you were helping family open a business. Its not like those things have a HR dept to contact to verify, so you'd be clear.

Congrats on staying clean. You are a rare one. Your question doesn't make any sense. Maybe you need to go back to school or get some retraining. If not, maybe the nearest employment centre could help you.
