Most middle-higher class republicans don't apretiate the government taking money they earnd to give it to people on welfare that don't have a work ethic to earn it themselves. Thier main point is that if you, and only you, work hard enough you will get what you earn and/or need to get by... but i am among the 0.02% of republicans that are atheist and i wonder:

Why do my god fearing republican friends constintly thank or blame god and/or jesus for doing something for or against them when a second ago they were just preaching to a libral about how our position in life is made by those who work for it, not from handouts?

God blesses those who believe .He gave us free will.. People decide if they want to be successful or not .. I don't "blame " God for anything but I do thank him for any blessings I receive..
I don't mind helping someone on hard times,I do mind paying for generation after generation of families whose only income is welfare . One thing you need to remember is if your household brings in fifty-thousand a year or more , you are hit with the Alternative Minimum Tax. So all these "upper"middle-class people you are referring to , pay a whole lot more taxes. So No its not appreciated. By the way, you need to check your spelling ..

I am libertarian, and very fiscally conservative. As far as governemnt is concerned, they should not provide the type of welfare they are providing, at my expense. I give regularly to my church, and to the Salvation Army. Both have proven to do a lot of good, for a little bit of money. My dollar is going to help people, not $.32 of my dollar. The government has hstorically misspent ax dollars, and should not be in charge of something so important. I thank god everyday for giving me life, and thank him for my brothers and sisters. I don't blame God for anything. When I question him, the answer is always that there are reasons I can't understand. And that is good enough for me. But I see your point, and the religion and hypocrisy thing is exactly why I don't vote republican. good question!

I don't know, I'm an atheist Republican. I am lower middle class, if that. I know a whole boat load of fellow Republicans, and none of them could be described as "god fearing".

And asking for a favor from something that does not exist, and getting a cash handout for being a lazy slug are pretty different.

Right Wing Republicans=Hypocrites
Republicans only want Jesus around when it suits their purposes. You will not find one word in the New Testament where Jesus addresses either homosexuality or abortion but will find over 5,000 passages dealing with helping the poor. The evangelical conservative right wing Republicans ignore Jesus on this subject like He's some kind of dodo. Plus they think they are all going to heaven. Big question?????? As stated in the beginning, Right-wing Republicans=Hypocrite

I guess it is soley on the premise that they are god fearing and they are afraid to rock that boat too much. Some say you are suppossed to appreciate everything from the lord whether it is good or bad. I think you are the first repub atheist that I know of that has actually come out and said it. For that, people will respect your truthfullness and honesty.

They thank God for something for them, because God gives us the potential and opportunity to work successfully for it. Our raw materials of skills and aptitudes comes from God and our work to refine those skills is the second part of the equation.

I never hear people blaming God for failing, as much as I hear it being a result of God's judgement. I think they are mistaken in their opinion, however.

Most upper class liberals such as myself don't appreciate you right wingers taking our money and throwing it at a war that has cost the lives of 3,000 Americans and wounded over 10,000.

I'd rather give my money to the homeless guy on the street than have my fellow Americans die in a sandbox for some people that don't even want our style of freedom.
