Well the only one I watch nowadays is Deal or no Deal (I dont know if that's what you mean with "game shows), it's good and exciting (especially seeing all that money), but sometimes it gets boring. Sometimes I even think it's all made up.

New game shows don't last. I think people like to have game shows they can play along with and get immediate results. Like in Jeopardy you can guess the answer and you find out the answer right away. Wheel of Fortune you can try to figure out the puzzle as everyone else does. The newer ones like the short lived (on primetime) Who Wants to be a Millionaire? was exciting for a while because everyone was shocked by the whole million dollar thing. But it gets boring seeing multiple choice and then waiting 3 commercial breaks for the answer. Or picking a briefcase in Deal or No Deal and waiting until they pick your case to see what happens. Newer game shows dont have the same kind of interactivity as the classics.

People competing for prizes on TV is a game show right??? so.. Survivor, Top Model, Deal or No Deal, Top Chef, Project Runway, Amazing Race, Beauty and the Geek, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, The Biggest Loser, Fear Factor, The Apprentice, and the old stand bys The Price is Right, Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy of course.
So no, Not really, the game show is alive and kicking. :-)

It cost less to produce a talk show than a game show. Password, the Match Game, and even Hollywood squares were entertaining, but it actually required guest celebrities to have more than a room temperature IQ and work for scale. I believe their press agent would rather them do a 5 minute guess spot over a rehearsed dialog presenting an image than to try to wing it and let people see their true selves. Sometimes it is best to keep quiet and have everyone suspect you are an idiot than to open your mouth and prove to everyone that you are.

match game is by far the best gameshow ever. it's so classic. the celebtrities didn't have to even really work like on password or hollywood squares and yet it was number one for several years. i would've loved to have been on that show. it's my favorite gameshow ever and is a classic one at that. the gameshows now are ridiculous. they're all about money. match game wasn't. the celebrities were having a good time and so did the audience and contestants. it's so much more entertaining to see celebrities having fun and who they really are than just a 2 minute interview of them. the newer gameshows are all about money and popularity. its so stupid. match game and password are classics. there have been so many tries to redo match game but all have failed except the original one. now game shows are like reality shows....dead.

For the most part yes. Although the long running ones will be around still. Like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right. (well that is if they get a replacement for bob barker once he retires. it isn't going to be the same without him.)

it won't be long until our game shows are zany and ridiculous like on Japanese television. Oh wait, we already make people eat pig uterus, strip naked and make asses of themselves on an island to win a million dollars. But that was just too hard for some people, so we created" Deal or no deal" which a glorified version of "Bet you can't guess which hand it's in? "

I agree.
I wish they had shows like Match Game and $5000 Pyramid (I don't really remember the dollar amount. :P) because I always thought it was fun to see regular people on with d-list celebrities!
Deal or No Deal and that new one with The Shat are just an enormous waste of time!

My opinion, they've been dead for a LONG time, and should have stopped after the first hundred at least.

It's not you, ALOT of these new game shows are full of it. It's like the networks are just throwing shows together and riding each other's coattails but just renaming them for their networks.
