They are the same because 1^1 = 1. However there is a difference between 2 square feet and 2 feet square.

2 feet square = 2^2 square feet = 4 square feet.

There is no difference, but if you increase that to 2 square feet and 2 feet square, there is a difference. 2 feet square is 4 square feet. The only time that there is not a difference is using 1 foot.

There is no difference as 1² = 1

BUT there is a big difference between 10 sq feet and a 10 foot square ( by 90 square feet) as the area of a 10 ft square is 10² sq ft ie 100 sq ft

They are the same thing, unless your teach by "1 foot square" means the perimeter is summed to a square. In which case that would be 1/16 foot squared.

I never was much of a mathematician, but best I recall, one square foot = 12 in. by 12 in. = 144 square inches, which could be in the form of a four-sided shape measuring 12 inches on each side - which would also be one foot square; or it could be any kind of spatial area that added up to a total of 144 square inches - such as, for instance, a strip 72 inches long and 2 inches wide, which would still cover a total spatial area of 144 square inches.
